Cocobolo wood varies from rich red to an attractive appearance of yellow, orange, black and red streaks. Upon exposure the heartwood turns to mellow orange red. The grain is irregular and also straight. Lustre is low and texture is medium fine. Cocobolo is hard, heavy, strong, oily to the touch and very durable.
