This exotic hardwood is hard and heavy and has a moderately coarse, even texture. Bubinga is durable and strong. The heartwood is red-brown, with red and purple veining. The sapwood is pale white.
Bubinga is used for turnery - knife handles - veneers - inlay work - high end furniture and flooring.
The wood can be worked well with hand or power tools to a fine finish. Cutting edges must be kept sharp.Will take a nice polish.
The tree is native to Cameroon, Gabon and Zaire.
